War senses poem

Life threatening

Rotting flesh, blood and death all around me.

The guns firing to win back our poor,
wrecked country.

The shuddering wood against my shoulder
as I kill a grey, fearless man.

The smooth, runny chocolate sliding
down my throat.

I think we will have to surrender this time.
